"Let's see them squabbles bro" - Damian Dillard reacts to DeMar DeRozan's offseason boxing workout
DeMar DeRozan is already trying to stay in shape in the offseason by doing some light boxing workouts. DeRozan shared a video of himself on the speed bag, showing off his rhythm and timing. Damian Lillard was one of several players who reacted to his reel.
In a post on his Instagram account, DeRozan was inside a gym and showed off his work on the speed bag. It's a great workout to keep the reflexes and timing of the hands on point even though the soon-to-be free agent is not playing a lot of basketball this summer.
Damian Lillard, who also uses boxing as one of his offseason workouts, commented on DeMar DeRozan's post. He teased the Deebo by asking him to see him fight and use his hands like he did in his video.
"Let me see them squabbles lmaooo," Lillard wrote.
Damian Lillard and DeMar DeRozan are good friends
The two California natives share a special bond off the court. Damian Lillard and DeMar DeRozan have the same agent, Aaron Goodwin, who will be busy getting the latter a new contract. DeRozan is open to staying with the Chicago Bulls but is also interested in playing at home in Los Angeles.
Deebo was also present at Lillard's wedding years ago. "Dame Time" was one of the first guests in DeRozan's YouTube show "Dinner with DeMar" launched earlier this year.
Lillard also watched his friend play a game live earlier this season at the United Center since Milwaukee is less than two hours away from Chicago. The Bulls faced off against a familiar face, the Portland Trail Blazers, a franchise Lillard spent 11 seasons with.
"It was cool. I woke up from my nap and he texted me. And I was like, 'Alright, I got you with my tickets.' That's one of my good friends outside of basketball. To see him come out here and support me and watch his old team was cool," DeRozan said. [H/T Sports Illustrated]
DeMar DeRozan will be a free agent at age 34
DeMar DeRozan will become a free agent at the end of the month if he can't agree on a deal with the Chicago Bulls. DeRozan remains an important part of the Bulls although he'll be turning 35 in August. The team had an opportunity to trade him at the deadline, but they stayed put.
If Deebo becomes a free agent, he's unlikely to receive a max contract due to his age. However, he's still a great scorer and a proven All-Star who could help a young team reach the next level or a championship team looking to get over the hump.
One of the teams previously linked to DeRozan is the LA Lakers, but the franchise has more important things to do before going after players. The Philadelphia 76ers are going to need an additional star, while young teams such as the Orlando Magic could use a veteran like him.
