"Living in a condo with two kids is so hard" - Julius Randle's wife Kendra opens up about the challenges of abruptly moving from New York to Minnesota
Julius Randle is set to start a new journey with the Minnesota Timberwolves after being traded from the New York Knicks. His wife, Kendra, highlighted the challenges of abruptly moving to a new place.
The former Knicks forward played five seasons in New York. He averaged 22.6 points (45.0% shooting, including 33.8% from beyond the arc), 9.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
"I'm not going to lie, when we heard Minnesota, it was pretty shocking," Randle said. "Although, we were so ready to leave New York, living in a condo with two kids is so hard. ... The hardest part by far was telling our seven-year-old that he had to leave his school and friends. ... That's the really hard part abou the NBA.
The trade package involved Donte DiVincenzo and a top-13-protected first-round pick in 2025 in exchange for four-time NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns.
The move provides an excellent pick-and-roll option for Jalen Brunson. Meanwhile, the departure of Towns sets the stage for more opportunities for Naz Reid.

It was a rewarding experience and time for them, as they now look forward to what's next in store in Minnesota.
New York Knicks star expressed gratitude for the time spent playing with Julius Randle
Jalen Brunson joined the Knicks in 2022 and played two seasons with Julius Randle. They were envisioned as the dynamic tandem of the franchise to lead them to basketball glory. During the Knicks' annual Media Day, Brunson talked about the trade and what it meant to play alongside Randle.
His comments were shared by user Knicks Videos (@sny_knicks) on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"It was definitely tough. Thankful that Julius welcomed me with open arms here," Brunson said. "The memories we made together was really fun."
Last season, Randle averaged 28.7 points (47.9% shooting, including 40.1% from three-point range), 6.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. However, he dislocated his shoulder last Jan. 27 and was sidelined for the remainder of the season.
He underwent successful surgery in April and is on pace to play at the start of the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. It will be Julius Randle's 11th season in the league and he will be paired alongside Rudy Gobert at the frontcourt and a promising young star in Anthony Edwards.
