"Luka Doncic is the best all-around offensive player in the NBA” – Former NBA player proclaims Luka Doncic as the best player in NBA currently, says his offensive bag is too deep for teams to handle
Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is doing things on a basketball court that many haven't seen in quite a while. He's currently averaging 35.2 points per game and eight rebounds. On top of his 3.52 points per game, he's had multiple games this season where he's scoring 40-plus each night.
Although the Dallas Mavericks haven't necessarily found the type of success that they were hoping for throughout the early part of the season, they still sit at 3-3 and are in a good position to continue getting better to make the playoffs and have a better seed than they had a year ago. With Luka Doncic leading the way, there should be no reason why they can't complete that task. With how well he's played recently, some are starting to say that he might be the best offensive player in the game.
Tim Legler had the following to say about Luka Doncic:
"Luka Doncic is the best all-around offensive player in the NBA. Right now honestly, I don't think that's even debatable."
Is Luka the Best Player in the NBA?
While it might be a bit too premature to say that Luka is the best player in the NBA, he's certainly one of the top three players in the league at the moment. Whether you say guys like Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Giannis or others, there's no debate right now that Luka Doncic is in that tier. He's been an absolute force on the offensive side of the basketball throughout the past few seasons and there's a good argument to be made that he could be the best offensive player just like Tim Legler said.
He still has things that he's going to need to work on both sides of the court, but he has shown the ability to get stops at a high level when needed and he's also an above-average facilitator. His offensive game doesn't really have any weaknesses at the moment and it's been impressive considering that he is still only 23 years old.
The Dallas Mavericks are an interesting team at the moment and that's because they don't necessarily have the best pieces around Luka Doncic. When looking at the team that they put together next to him, they have some interesting pieces, but nothing too crazy. They decided to add Christian Wood in the offseason, Spencer Dinwiddie, Reggie Bullock, Dorian Finney-Smith, and others have been there for a few years now and are hopeful that they can continue to build and grow with their young superstar.
They're one of those teams that might not necessarily be a title favorite because they don't have all of those pieces, but whenever Luka is on the other side of the court, you always have to worry about what their team is going to end up doing. As we saw a year ago with the Phoenix Suns, he can win a playoff series by himself because of his offensive game.
Let's see what the Dallas Mavericks can do this season, but it's still young and there are some positive signs that they're going to be much better than they were a season ago.
