"Luka Doncic do it all game"- Anthony Edwards snitches on Mavs counterpart after ref calls rare violation

Anthony Edwards committed two turnovers on Wednesday in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 108-80 win over the LA Clippers. One of his errors, which happened with 19.1 seconds remaining in the second quarter, completely baffled him. He approached the referee to ask for an explanation for the call.

Here’s the Ant-Man complaining to the referee about the call:

“Luka Doncic do that s**t all f**king year, bro! Luka Doncic do it all game. Every time he dribble the ball, he do this [carrying motion] and they never call it. Then, you call it on me. That’s crazy!
“Every motherf**king player in the league do it and you f**king call it on me. That’s crazy. … Nobody else, but you call it on me.”

Julius Randle joined the conversation and said:

“Ain’t nobody calling a carry. This is 2024. The f**k?”

A “carry” is a violation, per the NBA Rule book. Section II - Dribble states:

“A player who is dribbling may not put any part of his hand under the ball and (1) carry it from one point to another or (2) bring it to a pause and then continue dribbling again.”

During the 2022-23 NBA season, the league focused on calling traveling and dribbling violations, including carrying and palming. In the first three months of that season, coaches and players complained of the inconsistency of the calls.

Anthony Edwards and Luka Doncic will face off on Christmas

The first meeting between Anthony Edwards and Luka Doncic following last year’s Western Conference finals happened in late October. Dallas won 120-114 despite the Slovenian having an off night. Doncic finished with 24 points on 10-for-27 shooting, including 1-for-8 from deep. Kyrie Irving carried the visiting Mavs to victory.

The highly anticipated rematch will happen on Christmas Day, one of the NBA’s marquee features. Edwards and Co. travel to Dallas, hoping to get even with the hosts in the season series.

Following Edwards’s claim that Doncic carries the ball all the time, fans will be interested to see how both will perform. Many will probably scrutinize their dribbling to check if Ant-Man was right.
