Luka Doncic carries Dallas Mavericks to impressive win
Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic came into the 2022-23 season as a popular MVP pick around the league. He's done nothing but deliver on that hype and is playing some of his best basketball yet.
After averaging 28.4 ppg last season, Doncic has elevated his game to another level. He's currently averaging a league-leading 34.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 7.8 apg and a career-high 2.1 spg.
Tuesday night's win over the LA Clippers gave the Mavericks their second consecutive win. Dallas will have three more home games, including matchups against the Houston Rockets (2-12) and Denver Nuggets (9-4).
The team is starting to find its groove. Dallas has won six of its last eight games. With Doncic putting out this type of performance on a regular basis, the Mavericks have become a force in the Western Conference.
Dallas will need to continue their impressive play throughout the rest of their home stand. After their games against the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets, Dallas will face a challenging road trip. They will face a trio of difficult Eastern Conference opponents. Dallas will face the Boston Celtics (11-3), Toronto Raptors (8-7) and Milwaukee Bucks (10-3) before returning home.
The Mavericks are fifth in the West. If Luka Doncic can continue to play at this level, there's no telling just how high the Mavericks can climb in the standings. In his last two outings, Luka has averaged 38.5 ppg, 12.0 rpg and 7.5 apg.
