"M-V-P of the whole spot": LeBron James shows love to Savannah James after 'Beats' promo goes viral
From hinting at retirement a few months ago, LeBron James is looking ready to play for a few more years in the NBA. If the new commercial with Beats by Dre will be taken at face value, the four-time MVP may have more reason to extend his career. Savannah James, in the said ad, tells her husband to keep on playing until at least their sons Bronny and Bryce are in the NBA. The LA Lakers superstar has his marching orders and may not want to disappoint his wife.
Following the smashing commercial, “King James” went on Instagram to appreciate and give his wife love. James’ caption told what fans needed to know about the role Savannah did in the said ad:
“M-V-P of the whole spot!!! @mrs_savannahrj KILLED IT”
Savannah James added an element that only a wife and a mother could give in any commercial. She brought a sense of family and togetherness to the whole scene. In the background, she could be distinctly heard saying:
"Tell them you're not done until you play with your son [Bronny]. Then do that, again [with Bryce]."
After losing to the Denver Nuggets, the first time a LeBron James-led team had been swept before reaching the finals, James looked done. While many thought he did it on purpose and that he never meant to retire, the possibility of “LBJ” walking away still made some pause.
At this year’s ESPYs, the NBA’s all-time points leader told the basketball world that he just wasn’t done yet. The Beats by Dre commercial has only reinforced the idea that he would play at least for a couple more years. Savannah James’ message was loud and clear. She wants to see her husband and sons play in the NBA.
Besides, the wife thinks there are still things LeBron James needs to do other than playing with their sons.
“They’re talking again saying you can’t do it…again. Show them why you’re nothing to be played with. The GOAT. Show them why you’re “The King,” again. Nah, you ain’t done yet. Show them what happens when a washed-up, one-hit wonder, does it again.”
LeBron James and Anthony Davis can’t wait to play the Denver Nuggets
A few months ago, there was no such thing as a rivalry between the LA Lakers and Denver Nuggets. Things have changed since then, particularly after the Nuggets’ championship parade. Denver coach Mike Malone took shots at LeBron James for the forward’s retirement hint after the Lakers were eliminated.
Malone thought James took the spotlight away from the Nuggets with James possibly retiring. The trolling continued in the offseason that James eventually took a dig at the said coach.
Anthony Davis candidly had this to say in an interview about Tuesday’s opening night matchup:
“It’s very motivational. I mean, obviously KCP is my guy so you kind of congratulate him, like ‘you got this one.’ But it was just a lot of like, the talking, and ‘the Lakers dad,’ there was just so much of that going on it was like ‘all right, we get it, y’all won,’ but me and Bron had some conversations like ‘we can’t wait.’
