Magic Johnson celebrates 33-year anniversary with wife Cookie Johnson as he drops heartwarming montage 

Former NBA superstar Magic Johnson reached a historic milestone in his personal life this week. Johnson celebrated his 33rd wedding anniversary with his college sweetheart and wife Cookie Johnson on Saturday.

It has been an incredible journey for Magic and Cookie with plenty of ups and downs along the way. On Saturday, Magic Johnson took to social media to share a heartwarming montage of their relationship on his Instagram account.

Magic can be heard speaking over a series of pics of the couple from around the globe. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard even managed to throw in a brief clip of him showing off his dance moves. The caption accompanying the post reads:

"33 years ago, I made the best decision of my life by marrying the beautiful Cookie Johnson. I thank God every day for blessing me with my wife, best friend, and loving mother of our amazing children all wrapped into one!
"I’m beyond grateful for your heart of gold, unwavering love for our family, and irreplaceable presence in this world. Happy Anniversary baby!"

Magic and Cookie Johnson have been dating since their college days at Michigan State University. Magic, who was a Michigan native, enrolled in the school in 1977 and ran into Cookie, who was born in Alabama, at a party on campus.

The two were on and off for over a decade before Magic Johnson made the move and proposed. They were married in 1991 in a small event in Lansing, Michigan and have been inseparable since. They also have two children together, Earvin Johnson III and Elisa Johnson.

Magic Johnson may have officially retired from the NBA in 1996 but the 65-year-old remains involved in the sports industry through a series of investments in teams.

Johnson was part of an ownership group that was involved in a $2 billion purchase of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012. He also holds a stake in the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks and the MLS' Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC).

More recently, Johnson took the dive into the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), partnering with owner Michele Kang and investing in the Washington Spirit.

Johnson said he clicked with Kang when they met in Los Angeles and Magic jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the rapidly growing league. He stated in a recent interview with CBS that his goal is to win a championship with the Spirit in the coming years.
