Magic Johnson shares wary advice to Commanders after setback against Eagles before Cowboys game
NBA legend and Washington Commanders minority owner Magic Johnson sent a message to the NFL team ahead of Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys in one of the most intense rivalries in the league. After losing to another divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, in Week 11, the Commanders hosted the Cowboys at Northwest Stadium, keen to get back to winning ways.
Johnson wished well to the team but also offered a piece of advice to the capital team, saying that they shouldn't make mistakes against the Texan franchise.
"Good luck to my Commanders! Lets play a mistake free game today!" Johnson tweeted on Sunday.
The Commanders entered the game with a 7-4 record following their loss to the Eagles but have become one of the best storylines of the 2024 NFL season, fighting to win the top spot in the NFC East division with Philadelphia.
A win against the Cowboys would keep their hopes alive and give them strength to keep chasing the Eagles. At the time of writing, Washington is losing 10-9 to the Cowboys ahead of the fourth quarter.
Jayden Daniels has been intercepted once while throwing 80 yards. On the other end, Cooper Rush has thrown for 183 yards and one passing touchdown.
Magic Johnson was frustrated after watching Mike Tyson's fight against Jake Paul
Magic Johnson has been active discussing recent sports events, including the much-anticipated boxing fight between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. They clashed at the Dallas Cowboys stadium last week, with Paul winning the bout via unanimous decision.
After all the expectations the fight carried, many people thought the boxers didn't perform at the best level, especially with Tyson struggling to keep up with a 21-year younger opponent in Paul. Johnson wasn't happy about the clash and voiced his opinion on the clash on X.
"Just sad smh. I cut it off because I couldn't watch anymore. It's sad to see Mike Tyson like this because I went to every Tyson fight. This fight was not great for boxing."
He's now wanting to see the Commanders become as dangerous as Tyson was during his best days. Magic Johnson, a five-time NBA champion with the LA Lakers, has been successful as an owner, winning championships in different leagues and sports, and he's now working to help the Commanders become a winning franchise and challenge for Super Bowls frequently.
