Malcolm Brogdon is delighted to play for Boston Celtics: “Marcus Smart, Tatum, Brown, anybody — it’s a treat playing on a team like this”
Malcolm Brogdon seems to be fitting in more than fine on his new squad, the Boston Celtics, saying this experience is like no other.
The Indiana Pacers traded Brogdon to the Celtics in early July and received a 2023 first-round pick, Aaron Nesmith and Daniel Theis.
Malcolm joined Boston in a new role coming off the bench and has not only succeeded very well, but he seems to be loving his team as well.
In just 17 performances, the 2016-17 Rookie of the Year has averaged 14.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists, all while shooting 46.9% from 3-point range.
The Boston Celtics (17-4) remain one of the league's best defensive teams, with reliable shooters as well.
Brogdon's addition, including his strong shooting from beyond the arc, is a wonderful addition to an already very strong core. The mainstays who made it to the NBA Finals last season are playing like they want to get right back there again. It's looking like Brogdon is helping round this team out even further as they gear up to be serious playoff contenders.
The Celtics are a vicious team on the back end and very reliable on offense. Brogdon seems to be meshing into exactly that style.
“This is a treat," Brogdon said. "I think for any NBA player, whether you ask Marcus Smart, (Jayson) Tatum, (Jaylen) Brown, anybody — it’s a treat playing on a team like this.”
Celtics fans are loving Malcolm Brogdon
Not only is Brogdon loving Boston, but Boston is loving Brogdon.
Twitter is full of Celtics fans expounding on their newfound love for Brogdon as he brings even more depth to an already great team.
There are fans already hoping the team can keep Brogdon healthy for the playoffs. That means he is already solidifying himself as an important asset this soon into his new tenure in Boston.
This fan expects a Bucks-Celtics reunion:
“Celtics better take care of him because I want everyone healthy when the Bucks and Celtics run into each other in the playoffs this year.”
Another fan reiterated Malcolm's treat analogy right back at him:
“Ask any NBA player - it’s a treat to have Malcolm Brogdan playing on your team”
It is one thing to love the city you play in, but when that city loves you back, it is very rewarding.
Having only played 17 games in a Boston uniform and already getting this much love from the fans is a different level. It really backs up Brogdon’s opinion on the city.
The Celtics fans seem genuinely happy with Malcolm’s attitude and efforts. For a city known to be rather harsh at times as fans, this is huge for a new player.
Looks like both sides are excited for a delightful future together.
