Mark Cuban points to fiscal reason behind backing Kamala Harris as 2024 U.S. President: "That's what Harris understands that Trump doesn't"
As the 2024 Presidential race continues, Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban continues to throw all his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris. About a month out from the election, the NBA figure stated one financial reason why he is backing the Democratic nominee.
In the past months where he's spoken out on political issues, Cuban has touched a lot on economic policies. One thing he's especially zeroed in on is the tariff plan Donald Trump has if he gets elected again.
While making an elongated post on X, Mark Cuban once again spoke on tariffs. He took a slight jab at the former President while speaking on how they can be beneficial when properly used.
"Strategic tariffs like steel, EVs are fine. I’ve said so many times. Across the board tariffs are an inflationary tax proposed by someone who doesn’t understand how tariffs work," Cuban said. "That’s what Harris understands that Trump doesn’t."
Cuban has been dedicated to being active on social media throughout the election process. He's had among the strongest presence online in terms of Harris' biggest supporters. When he isn't praising Harris' plans and ideas, he's engaging in online back-and-forths with Elon Musk.
As election day slowly gets closer, Cuban also has to get ready for a new Dallas Mavericks season. Fresh off reaching the finals, the new-look roster will once again attempt to contend in the Western Conference.
Mark Cuban states key reason for supporting Kamala Harris over Donald Trump
While going on his latest social media rant, Mark Cuban was asked a key question by a fan. He was put on the spot to name the key reason why he is supporting Vice President Harris and the main reason why he isn't backing former President Trump.
Cuban ended up replying to this comment with simple answers to both questions. In regards to Harris, he stated he likes her policies and feels she'll help with job growth in the United States. As for Trump, he brought up the January 6 riots and how he tried to have the last election overturned.
Given his long history in the business world, it's not shocking for Mark Cuban to side with the candidate he feels is best for entrepreneurs. While he might be most known for his time with the Dallas Mavericks, he's been equally as successful in his ventures outside of basketball.
Cuban has invested in countless startups over the years, most famously on the hit show 'Shark Tank'.
Following some of his moves in the past year, Cuban might be getting ready to enter back into the business world to a larger degree. In December of 2023, he shockingly made the decision to sell his controlling share of the Mavericks. Cuban is still with the organization, but as a minority owner now.
