"Massive spotlight on the incompetence of Jeanie Buss" - NBA analyst takes shots at Lakers owner amid LeBron James and AD's runs with Team USA

LeBron James and Anthony Davis of the LA Lakers have been among the best performers for Team USA during their basketball showcase. An NBA analyst believes that James and AD's performances highlight the "incompetence" of LA Lakers governor Jeanie Buss.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, NBA analyst Jason Timpf of Volume Sports shared his opinion on the Lakers duo. Timpf pointed out the Lakers' failure to surround James and Davis with a formidable team. While the addition of JJ Redick as head coach has potential, the team has almost the same roster as last season.

"This whole Team USA experience has just been a massive spotlight on the incompetence of Jeanie Buss," Timpf tweeted.

LeBron James has been fantastic for Team USA, especially in the final two exhibition games against South Sudan and Germany. The Americans didn't look impressive at all in those two games, but they came out with the win due to the four-time NBA MVP.

James hit the game-winning layup to beat South Sudan, while also scoring the final 11 points for Team USA to beat the reigning FIBA World Champions in London. It showed that the nearly 40-year-old superstar remains the best American player in the world.

On the other hand, Anthony Davis has been equally important to the success of Team USA. Davis is coming off the bench to provide energy on the defensive end along with Anthony Edwards. AD also impressed on the offensive end.

While Team USA is favored to take home the gold, the LA Lakers are from being championship contenders despite having James and Davis on the same roster. The Lakers front office failed to sign any big-name free agents, while only adding a couple of rookies – Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.

Former NBA player and current part-time ESPN analyst Austin Rivers had the same sentiment about LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Rivers noticed that the LA Lakers duo had a great impact on Team USA, so he thought that their NBA should be considered title favorites.

"When you watch USA basketball and realize the two most dynamic players thus far are two Lakers players…you realize they're not far behind in competing for a chip. That window can't be closed considering I'm watching them be the best on the BEST team in the world…," Rivers tweeted.

The only problem for the Lakers front office is they don't have enough assets to possibly improve their roster. They can only hope that JJ Redick can maximize the team's potential and possibly have an impressive season. Redick also pointed out the need for a big man although there are no top-tier free agent centers available in free agency.
