"Mavs are gonna be up 3-1" - Nick Wright hilariously trolls Boston Celtics after they sweep Indiana Pacers
Nick Wright is not letting the Boston Celtics celebrate sweeping the Indiana Pacers and earning a ticket to the NBA Finals. Wright hilariously trolled the Celtics after they won the Eastern Conference finals on Monday night, with Jaylen Brown being awarded the Larry Bird MVP Trophy.
In a tweet the eccentric Fox Sports analyst predicted that the Dallas Mavericks will be Boston's opponent at the NBA Finals. He also thought that the Celtics would have a tough time adjusting against a very good Mavs team and would be down in the series after four games.
"By the time the Celtics adjust to playing real playoff basketball, the Mavs are gonna be up 3-1," Wright wrote.
Nick Wright is likely alluding to what most NBA fans are saying about the Boston Celtics. They had an easier path to the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Indiana Pacers. They beat the Heat in five games, with Jimmy Butler not playing a game for Miami.
The Celtics also beat the Cavaliers in five games, with Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen missing the later part of the series due to injuries. Meanwhile, Tyrese Haliburton missed Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference finals for the Pacers.
Wright is possibly pointing to the lack of adversity the Celtics have faced in this year's playoffs. Unlike the Dallas Mavericks, who had to go through the LA Clippers and OKC Thunder in six games each. They are a win away from the NBA Finals and could sweep the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Celtics swept the season series against the Mavericks this season but have been a different team in the playoffs. They are on the verge of sweeping the team that dethroned defending champions Denver Nuggets.
Nick Wright not impressed with the Boston Celtics
Before taking a shot at the Boston Celtics after sweeping the Indiana Pacers, Nick Wright was not impressed with their performance in Game 3.
The Celtics came back from an 18-point lead to beat the Tyrese Haliburton-less Pacers to go up 3-0. He even described the Pacers' starting five without Haliburton as a team that doesn't belong in a conference final.
The Celtics might have a tough time impressing Wright even more after their Game 4 performance. The Pacers had another lead in the fourth quarter, but their inexperience showed again. If Indiana had the maturity to close games, they would have been up 3-1 over Boston.
And to add to more Boston Celtics slander, here's how Wright described the 64-18 team:
"The stat you're showing say they are one of the greatest teams ever. I think that they are not even one of the three best teams in the NBA, so we'll see how it plays."
