Miami Heat Twitter account disses Suns with attendance stats for mocking team's fanbases
The Miami Heat had a strong response to the Phoenix Suns' diss attempt on X (formerly Twitter). The NBA released the 2024-25 schedule earlier Thursday, which opened the door for multiple activities.
The Suns took this chance to mock every team's fanbase, including Miami's.
"Every team we play this season but as their fanbases," they started.
The Suns showed Eminem with the Pistons, Spike Lee with the Knicks, Drake with the Raptors and even Lakers fans as Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fans, a long-time running joke in the world of sports.
When it came to the Miami Heat, they made a collage of empty seats at an arena, a lot of people clubbing and DJ Khaled to portray the Heat's fans.
The Heat's X account didn't take this post kindly and responded to the Suns in a big fashion, mocking them for ranking 25th in the league in average attendance.
"Interesting. Check in when you climb into that 24th spot, @Suns😉," the Heat's account quote-tweeted, alongside a graphic showing them as the fourth-best team in attendance in 2024 with 19,749 fans on average, while the Suns got 17,071.
After a couple of months of little to no activity, this back-and-forth only means one thing: The NBA is back. The association is still weeks away from its new beginning, but as the days go by, we get to know more details about what should be another exciting season.
The Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns appear to be in the same situation, as they have at least two established stars to compete for at least a playoff spot, but the competition in their conferences got stronger and they were eliminated in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.
Phoenix Suns star says he thought Miami Heat would draft him
Earlier this month, Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker revealed that he hoped that the Miami Heat would draft him during the 2015 NBA draft. At the time, they had the No. 10 pick, but they went with Justise Winslow over Booker.
“Oh, no, Miami is where I was hoping," Booker said. "'Cause Miami was my best workout, then I remember (Miami team president) Pat Riley came and did the interview, and he’s like, 'We’re looking for a Klay Thompson-type player we need to up our shooting.' I just shot 40 in college. I’m like, 'Oh, yeah.' I’m looking at spots down there by the arena.'"
Booker became a star in Phoenix, but it would've been interesting to see how he would have fared with the Miami Heat.
