Michael Jordan's ex-team mate weighs in on Chennedy Carter's viral flagrant on former teammate Marina Mabrey

Michael Jordan's ex-teammate, Ron Harper, weighed in on the viral foul from the Chicago Sky vs Connecticut Sun game on Friday.

WNBA Rookie Watch posted video of the rough play between Chennedy Carter and Marina Mabrey on their on their official X, formerly known as Twitter, handle. Harper left his views in the comment section of the post.

"This is just a hard foul…..," Harper wrote.

Late in the first quarter of the Sky vs Sun, Mabrey received a pass from Brionna Jones. Spotting the smaller Chennedy Carter, Mabrey tried to take advantage of her height to push past Carter and make an easy basket. However, that did not happen, as Carter seemingly realized the mis-match and brought her arm down across Mabrey's shoulder, close to her face.

Mabrey immediately fell to the ground and covered her face with her palms. The Sun medical staff attended to her while the referees issued the initial foul to the Sky guard. After reviewing the footage, the referees upgraded their initial judgment on Carter to a flagrant 1 foul, specifically for unnecessary contact to the head.

Carter and Mabrey were teammates with the Sky just before the WNBA took a break for the 2024 Paris Olympics; however, Mabrey requested a trade and a deal sent her to the Connecticut Sun on July 17.

Fans react to Chennedy Carter's flagrant foul on Marina Mabrey

Ron Harper was not alone in expressing his thoughts on Carter's hard foul. Many WNBA fans left their thoughts about the incident in the comments section. One fan demanded that the Sky guard, "needs to go."

"Chennedy needs to go!"

Other fans joined the fray and expressed similar opinions.

"This is a ghetto player that should be banned," @Use2LeanLeft said.
"Not shocked. That’s her. A loose cannon with questionable ethics," @Stickly1969 said.
"She needs a lifetime ban," @ColoradosMark said.

Another fan blamed the coach for Carter's actions.

"At this point it’s on the coach. Clearly this is the culture she’s created," @Carrier_Photoz said.
"Seriously Carter should be suspended by now. This is the second one of this nature," @joyceli2011 said.

Despite the foul, Mabrey performed very well, scoring 24 points off the bench, to lead her team to an 82-80 victory over her former teammates.

This was not the first time Chennedy Carter had a viral foul incident. Earlier this season, she engaged in another foul situation with the Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark.
