Michael Jordan's son likes Derrick Rose's hot take clip on 6-time NBA champ
Over the past 40 years, Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose are two of the top talents to suit up for the Chicago Bulls. Rose recently shared his thoughts on the 6-time champion who seemed to be respected by someone close to him.
During a recent interview on the "Cub 520 Podcast," Rose dove into Jordan and his time with the Bulls. He feels the strong culture in Chicago helped propel him to becoming such an iconic star in the NBA.
"MJ wouldn't be MJ if he played anywhere else but Chicago for his pro career," Rose said. "He would have been a great player anywhere else, but in Chicago, he became The Black Cat, he became MJ in Chicago."
One person who seems to agree with this take is Michael Jordan's oldest son, Jeffrey. He liked this post about Rose breaking down "His Airness" in Chicago.
Jeffrey tried to follow in his father's footsteps but couldn't reach the pro level. He did play at the college level, suiting up for Illinois and UCF. These days, his primary venture is the charity foundation "Heir Jordan" which he launched alongside his brother Marcus.
If there's one person who knows about the aura of playing for the Bulls, it's Rose. Not only is he a Chicago native, but he was drafted No. 1 overall by the franchise in 2008. Rose spent seven years with the Bulls, most famously becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history in the 2010-2011 season.
Michael Jordan thought Derrick Rose was going to deliver Chicago Bulls multiple championships
When Derrick Rose was making his rise to NBA stardom, he gathered a strong fan base across the league. Among those to have a lot of faith in his abilities was Michael Jordan.
During the 2010-11 season, the Chicago Bulls honored the 20th anniversary of the 1991 team that delivered the franchise's first title. Numerous players came back and spoke that night, including Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
Along with reminiscing about the old days, Michael Jordan let out a strong message for the Bulls team at the time. Led by an exciting emerging star in Rose, he felt more championships were on the way for Chicago.
“You guys are in store for a lot of other championships when you look at this team tonight,” said Jordan. “Don’t be surprised if you have six more coming.”
With Rose en route to an MVP season, Jordan wasn't wrong to have high hopes for the future. However, injuries would end up slamming their window of contention shut. After winning 62 games that year, Rose ended up battling a series of ailments that completely derailed his prime. With a hobbling star, the Bulls were never able to fully live up to their title aspirations.
