"Milkman Situation" - Paul George suggests questionable explanation for Tyrese Maxey's height since both his parents are below 5'8

Paul George expressed his excitement to play with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey when he was introduced by the Philadelphia 76ers a few weeks ago. George’s signing gives the 76ers a major boost following another disappointing loss in the playoffs last season. Philadelphia’s new Big Three might be the best in the NBA next season.

This early, the former LA Clippers All-Star is trying to get to know his new teammates more. Embiid is competing with Team USA in the Olympics so spending time with him will have to wait another two weeks. Maxey, though, is having his offseason so the podcaster decided to invite the 76ers point guard to discuss things on the “Podcast P with Paul George.”

George has become quite good as a host and as an interviewer. He helped Tyrese Maxey open up about his parents:

“My parents are small. Like 5’6, 5’7, 5’8. They are that height.

The All-Star forward couldn’t contain himself and blurted out:

“Milkman! Milkman situation right here.”

Paul George’s “Milkman” comment likely referred to a David Letterman interview with Michael Jordan decades ago. The Chicago Bulls legend also opened up a little about his family and said:

"I'm the tallest. My father is about 5'10, my mother is about 5'5, everyone else is about 5'6.5, 5'7. The milkman is about 6'7.”

“His Airness” was 6-foot-6 so his situation was a little more strange than Maxey’s who is listed as 6-foot-2. But, both of them tower over their respective siblings and parents. The “Milkman” joke was spot on but still wild that Jordan and George, years later, would bring it up.

Paul George and Tyrese Maxey believe the 76ers have a “real shot” at winning the championship

Paul George isn’t the only pickup that Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid will play with next season. The Philadelphia 76ers also added Caleb Martin, Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, Reggie Jackson and rookies Jared McCain and Adem Bona.

Maxey said he was most interested in playing with Martin, who the 76ers All-Star said “did a lot of annoying things for Miami.” He added that Martin and Kelly Oubre Jr. together should be a superb team-up.

Paul George responded that although he had his skirmishes with Oubre before, he was ready to play with him. “PG-13” particularly mentioned Eric Gordon as a notable addition to the squad and described McCain as “NBA-ready.”

George concluded:

(2:05 mark)

"I think it’s gonna be a hell of an opportunity. I think we got a real shot [at winning the championship.]"

Tyrese Maxey was just as convinced:

“Real shot! It’s a right group to have together. We got a guy like Caleb [Martin] who has won one and we got a lot of hungry guys who wanna win one.”

Maxey got it wrong when he said Martin is a champion. He must have thought the Miami Heat won the NBA Finals in 2023 when it was the Denver Nuggets who ruled the league. Still, his excitement following Philadelphia’s retooling has excited him.
