Milwaukee Bucks coach’s son, Austin Rivers, makes bold prediction around Victor Wembanyama and San Antonio

There are high expectations from the fans for Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Given that he is one of the top young talents and the Spurs are a winning organization, many think the team and Wemby can grow and win championships together. One of the people who believe that is Austin Rivers, son of Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers.

Rivers posted a video of himself inside his car and talking about the Spurs' history. First, he talked about David Robinson's era and how the organization started to win under the leadership of Robinson. But the Spurs weren't able to win a title until drafting Tim Duncan and then became a dynasty.

However, Rivers pointed out that after David Robinson retired in 2003, the Spurs needed additonal pieces to continue winning championships, which is why San Antonio drafted Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Fans know well how the trio of Duncan, Parker and Ginobili dominated the league and won four titles together.

This time, Rivers believes the same thing could happen for the Spurs. He specifically mentioned Stephon Castle as a steal in this year's draft class who could be key in helping Wembanyama win a title in the future.

"We're seeing it, they're doing it again," Rivers said. "They're putting these pieces in form again. Within the next five years, this team will win a championship.
"I'm not saying this team exactly will win. But this is a start of a team that will. There are pieces from this team that will help them win in the future."

The only thing that could threaten Rivers' prediction would be the pending retirement of legendary head coach Gregg Popovich. While the 75-year-old coach signed a five-year, $80 million deal in 2023, his retirement could be right around the corner.

With all the success the Spurs organization has had, Pop has played a significant part in it.

Victor Wembanyama's ultimate goal is to win an Olympic gold medal

Many young stars have expressed their desire to win an NBA championship over anything. However, Victor Wembanyama isn't like other youngsters as he shared that he wants to win an Olympic gold medal more than anything.

Last summer, he played for France's national basketball team and reached the final round. Unfortunately, the team faced Team USA with America's biggest stars in LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

"An Olympic gold medal would mean the most right now," Wembanyama said. "You can win way less in a career, it's very much more rare."

Winning the NBA title is very much in Wemby's mind; however, given that a player and a team can only win every four years, it makes winning an Olympic gold medal even more challenging.
