Minnesota Timberwolves vs Denver Nuggets Game Player Stats and Box Scores for March 29, 2024
The Minnesota Timberwolves traveled to Mile High City for another showdown against the Denver Nuggets on Friday. Minnesota, which lost 115-112 in the last meeting between the two teams, will be looking to get some payback. The Timberwolves were again without the injured Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Nuggets are also without Jamal Murray and again struggled a bit without the star point guard. Minnesota out-executed them in the opening quarter to grab a 33-26 advantage behind Jaden McDaniels, Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert.
The Timberwolves' dominance continued in the second frame behind the same aforementioned players. Nickeil Alexander-Walker also gave his team a push off the bench. Minnesota surprisingly had a commanding 62-43 advantage after the first 24 minutes ended.
Minnesota's defense continued to be a pest in the third quarter and limited the defending champs to just 21 points. Nikola Jokic had a more productive stretch but the Nuggets still had trouble getting consistent points from the rest. Murray's absence had greatly been felt on both ends of the floor.
The Denver Nuggets tried one last big run to open the fourth quarter but had limited success. Mike Conley led the Minnesota Timberwolves' poised and calculated response to keep the hosts at bay. Conley's timely 3-pointers doused cold water on Denver's mini runs.
The Nuggets' cold spell from long distance also badly hurt them. They finished 9-for-28 from that range against' the Timberwolves' pesky pressure. Denver had several open attempts but failed to punish its opponent on those occasions.
In the end, the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled out an impressive 111-98 win at the Denver Nuggets' vaunted lair. The home team raised the white flag with roughly three minutes remaining as the visitors marched to victory.
