Mitchell Robinson bluntly blames Joel Embiid for intentionally injuring him: "N***a grabbed my f***ing leg"
New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson shared an update on his injury and blamed Joel Embiid for it. An excerpt of an Instagram Live session was shared on Sunday where he talked about Embiid, saying that the Philadelphia 76ers center intentionally grabbed his leg.
“I mean s**t," Robinson said. "F**k you want me to do. N***a grabbed my f***ing leg. How you prepare for that? How you prepare for s**t like that?"
In April, during their first round playoff series, Embiid grabbed Robinson's leg after he fell to the ground. He was given a Flagrant 1 while Knicks players like Donte DiVincenzo went to his face to call him out.
Robinson underwent left ankle surgery in May. The injury was supposed to be reevaluated in six to eight weeks, but five months later, there isn't an update on his status or when he'll exactly be back on the court.
Embiid denied having bad intentions with that play and explained that he was just trying to avoid getting injured if Robinson landed on him in his attempt to grab a rebound.
"Obviously Mitchell Robinson jumping and trying to land, trying to make sure he doesn't land on me because obviously we know the history that I have with Kuminga landing on my knee," Embiid said in April. "So I kind of had some flashbacks, when he came down to it."
Neither Robinson nor Embiid have played in the 2024-25 NBA season and it's not clear when they will make their season debuts.
Mitchell Robinson explains where he stands on injury rehab
There has been no update on Mitchell Robinson's return timetable. However, he remains optimistic that he'll play soon, but won't rush anything.
“You seen what happened when I rushed to come back? I was back out,” Robinson said on Thursday, via the New York Post. “At this point, I gotta make sure I’m good for life, too. C’mon, now. Let’s not be selfish here. … But we’re going to be good. We’re going to be alright.
“We’re going to be okay. Promise you, we’re going to be straight.”
The New York Knicks are 3-2 to start the season. Robinson is reportedly expected to return in December or January, per New York Post's Stefan Bondy.
