"Motherf**ker is 7'5" - Chet Holmgren shuts down rumors of beef with Victor Wembanyama

One of the most energizing matchups during the 2023-24 NBA season was between Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama. The centers have similar body types and identical skills. Seeing them play against each other is always a treat, and one could make the mistake of accusing them of having beef. It's a good thing Holmgren has set the record straight.

Holmgren discussed his first official NBA season in the newest episode of Podcast P with Paul George. While he was drafted in 2022, he didn't play until last season due to a foot injury he sustained in the summer of that year.

Dallas Rutherford, one of the show's hosts, asked if he learned anything from playing against the San Antonio Spurs center. Given their long list of similarities, Rutherford was curious.

"I think you learn more from playing against different guys," Holmgren said. "I learned from playing against every single matchup that I played against, and he's no different. Oh, he is different, motherf***er's 7'5.

His first season with the OKC Thunder was exciting, as his size elevated the team's defense. But it was also met with comparisons to the 2024 Rookie of the Year. George then asked about the rumored beef between the two. However, Holmgren clarified that there isn't any beef.

"I'll just say, us being competitors. We played against each other before we were even in the NBA. But people be like, 'Y'all got beef?' I'm like, 'Beef?' We're out there competing, but beef? Beef means, when I see you, we're fighting. I don't got beef with him, I honestly don't even know the guy, we just play basketball against each other."

Holmgren answered it at the 31:30 mark.

An All-Star nod could be around the corner for Chet Holmgren

Every offseason, experts make tons of predictions. ESPN's recent Summer Forecast predicted Chet Holmgren could secure an All-Star nod next season. In their list, the former Gonzaga center is listed as the No. 2 player likely to be a first-time All-Star next season.

The player ahead of him is none other than Wemby.

Holmgren had a great first year in the league. He finished runner-up in the Rookie of the Year voting and helped OKC return to the postseason. The 7-foot-1 center averaged 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in his first official professional season.
