"My dunk package is crazy" - 284 lbs Zion Williamson boldly claims himself top dunker over Michael Jordan & Vince Carter
Zion Williamson knows something about being an aerial artist. Although he hasn't participated in the Slam Dunk contest, he is credited with some of the league's top in-game throwdowns. He was recently asked to select legendary dunkers and placed himself on the list.
A select group of players have captivated audiences by defying gravity. Michael Jordan, Vince Carter and LeBron James are regarded as the greatest. During an interview with Overtime, while touring China with the Jordan Brand, Williamson was asked to choose which of those three icons flew highest.
"I would have to go prime Vince because of the power and creativity he had with his dunks. That doesn't take away from Mike or LeBron. I think Vince just had more creative dunks."
After that, he was asked how well he'd perform against Carter in a dunk contest.
"I'ma give Vince his respect, but I gotta take myself. I got nothing but love and respect for Vince."
The Pelicans star was then asked about his dunk packages. Fans haven't seen his repetoire, as he's been injured for the bulk of his NBA career.
"My dunk package is crazy. I just haven't showcased it. So, I think when I get back to America, I'ma start posting a few dunks just to remind people that I still got it."
At 284 lbs., Williamson can go toe-to-toe with some of the league's best dunkers, even the legendary ones like Jordan and Carter. The lower-body strength of the two-time All-Star should be considered since he can elevate 45 inches off the floor.
Williamson has teased his desire to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest. However, fans haven't been blessed with his participation.
