“My wife says, ‘Protect Tyrese at all costs’” - Philadelphia 76ers forward pays unique complement to teammate Tyrese Maxey
One can argue that Tyrese Maxey is the Philadelphia 76ers' breakout star so far this season. His teammate Tobias Harris was recently asked what it's like to play alongside Maxey. Harris made it clear that he loves being on the court with the young star.
According to the forward's wife, Maxey is a player that Philly needs to take care of. That's how special Mad Max is to the team.
“Tyrese is special." Harris said. "My wife says, ‘Protect Tyrese at all costs.’ Tyrese has this glow about him on the court. Anytime I step on the court with him is an honor.”
We're assuming that many Philadelphia 76ers fans feel the same way. The young guard has had an incredible season so far and has shown no signs of slowing down. Maxey is currently signed to a four-year deal with the Sixers worth $12.15 million. We might see those figures rise if he continues to play the way he does now.
Tyrese Maxey's hot start for the Philadelphia 76ers this Season
The Philadelphia 76ers are off to a mediocre start this season. One player who has surprisingly played at an elite level is Tyrese Maxey. The young guard is putting up All-Star numbers, which could help the Sixers climb the ranks in the East.
Coach Doc Rivers openly admitted that the team is still struggling with chemistry and is figuring out ways to make things click. It seems that the Philadelphia 76ers are slowly finding their rhythm after breaking out of their 0-3 record to start the season.
They 76ers are now at 3-4 and have a two-game winstreak after defeating the Toronto Raptors and Chicago Bulls in their most recent games. While everyone is already expecting Joel Embiid and James Harden to take charge, Tyrese Maxey is keeping up with the two stars.
Tyrese Maxey, as of their most recent win against the Bulls, is averaging 22.6 points, 3.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds. His most notable game so far was when the Sixers defeated the Raptors on Oct. 29.
Maxey erupted for a career-high 44 points while shooting 15 of 20 from the field, accompanied by four assists and eight rebounds as well. It may come as a surprise, but we don't think it's a fluke either.
In previous games, Maxey proved that he can help the Sixers get points. He has a decent 3-point shot and is very active inside the paint. His teammates can drop the ball to him anytime since he's actively cutting into the lane. Maxey's energy is definitely something the team needs right now, especially if they aim to be the best team in the East.
It's still too early to say whether the Sixers can keep their momentum going. James Harden is struggling a bit offensively and the same goes for Embiid. There have been games where the two stars have dominated, but they have been inconsistent. Luckily, they can count on in Tyrese Maxey. Let's see how their season progresses.
