Myles Garrett builds dream team of NBA starting five of NFL players with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Jefferson

There have been some discussions about featuring NBA stars on a football field and vice versa, with NFL stars on a basketball court. On August 16, Browns' Myles Garrett was asked by CBS Sports to name his envisioned basketball starting five, which included himself. He selected standout athletes, naming Patrick Mahomes and Justin Jefferson, among others.

With several NFL players having the athletic ability to transition to a basketball roster, Garrett chose players based on the different skill sets he preferred to be on the court next to him. Each player he selected had a role that he envisioned for them on the court.

"So let's go Davante Adams," Garrett said. "Probably go with Patrick [Mahomes] ... or Jetta [Justin Jefferson]. Patrick got some handles. He has court vision. Then I will go DK [Metcalf] and Mike Evans."

The question presented a great opportunity for Garrett to picture some of the best NFL players as effective athletes on the NBA court with reliable production.

The 2024 NBA Champion gets included by Tom Brady in his Team USA football lineup

Regarded as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady was asked to construct a football lineup consisting of Team USA players. Featured on his lineup is 2024 NBA Champion Jayson Tatum as his quarterback. The Celtics forward is known as one of the most versatile forwards in the league who has grown into an effective playmaker.

He provided a detailed answer, which was shared by NFL on X (formerly Twitter).

"LeBron's my tight end. I'm putting Jayson Tatum as my quarterback," Brady said. "... Maybe Ant [Anthony Edwards]. ... Maybe I move LeBron out to receiver, then ... Ant [Anthony Davis] at tight end. ... I need one more receiver. I'm taking D-Book [Devin Booker]. I've seen his skill."

Brady originally wanted Lakers' LeBron James as his tight end due to his frame and athleticism. However, he wanted to utilize him better as a wide receiver alongside Devin Booker. Instead, he selected Anthony Davis as his tight end due to his size advantage.

The talent and versatility are there and for someone with a football IQ like Tom Brady, this squad could do some damage out on the field.

While LeBron James has been a common name in lists involving NBA players who could produce well in the NFL, Jayson Tatum is a new one in these conversations.
