"Myself and Savannah just support him" - LeBron James reflects on Bryce James' decision to choose Arizona over Ohio State

LeBron James has opened up on Bryce James' decision to commit to the Arizona Wildcats over the Ohio State Buckeyes and Duquesne Dukes. Bryce will begin his collegiate career later this year and play under coach Tommy Lloyd. The Wildcats currently have an overall record of 10-5 and 4-0 in the Big 12.

Speaking on The GoJo and Golic Show, James was asked about how he felt when Bryce decided to play for Arizona. He said it was his son's decision and that the only thing he could do as a parent was support him.

"They recruited Bryce very hard and believed in Bryce and believed in his maturation process," James said in an episode released Monday. "He's going as far as a basketball player and as a young man. He made his own decision, and as parents, myself and Savannah, we just support him, you know? We're excited for his next chapter once he gets down there, and hopefully, I don't have to buy the gear." Despite not playing in college, LeBron James has been supporting Ohio State since he was a child growing up in Akron. Many thought his two sons, Bronny and Bryce, would eventually play for the Buckeyes.

However, Bronny ended up playing for the USC Trojans in 2023 before entering last year's NBA Draft. He was selected 55th overall in the second round by the LA Lakers. He has played in just nine games this season, mainly during garbage time.

As for Bryce, he was recruited by Ohio State and Duquesne, which both had official offers. USC also expressed interest in him but didn't make an offer. He was eventually convinced to commit by Arizona associate coach Jack Murphy, as per 247 Sports.

After LeBron James turned 40 years old on December 30, he surprised many when he admitted that he could play in the NBA for five to seven more years. He's still among the best players in the league despite being the oldest. He's looking to win his fifth championship this season, second with the LA Lakers.

James did point out that he's not looking to play for five to seven more years. He didn't disclose when he'll be hanging it up, but there's a chance he could wait and play with Bryce James. He even hinted at it in an interview with Sports Illustrated back in 2022.

"I feel like I could play for quite a while," James said. "So it's all up to my body, but more importantly, my mind. If my mind can stay sharp and fresh and motivated, then the sky's not even a limit for me. I can go beyond that. But we shall see."

This would be another historic accomplishment for LeBron and his family. It also highlights the longevity of "The King" and his dedication to his body.
