"N**gas, they just sensitive" - Anthony Edwards doesn't hold back against officiating after loss to Warriors
Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves could be facing a hefty fine from the NBA after he criticized the referees on Saturday night. Edwards was not pleased with the officiating in the Timberwolves' 113-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors at the Target Center.
Speaking to reporters after the game inside the locker room, Edwards ranted about the Timberwolves not getting the same treatment as other good teams. He dropped an expletive describing his frustrations with the referees not just for Saturday's game, but all season long.
"They're f**king terrible," Edwards said. "All of them, besides the woman, but the other two dudes, terrible. Excuses as reasons they don't call a foul, the reason they don't call a foul, the sh*t was terrible. They don't wanna talk back to my coach, talk back to me. I said one thing to the ref and he gave me a tech."
"Ant-Man" added:
"Motherf**ker told one of my teammates that if I would have said, 'Y'all calling a bad foul,' he wouldn't have given me a tech. N**gas, they just sensitive and they're terrible. They penalize me and Ju (Randle) for being stronger than our opponent every night. We don't get no calls, so yeah, that's how I feel about the officials every game that we play."
Anthony Edwards finished the game with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. The Minnesota Timberwolves were down big early in the game before a furious comeback in the second half fell short. Edwards shot 6-for-20 from the field, so the Timberwolves could have had a better shot if he didn't struggle.
It has been a disappointing season for the Timberwolves, especially with Karl-Anthony Towns thriving with the New York Knicks. Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo haven't found their footing with the team as they fell to 14-13. They might be above .500, but they are No. 10 in the Western Conference standings with a 14-13 record.
Anthony Edwards remains frustrated with the Timberwolves offense
Following a 133-101 loss to the New York Knicks at home on Thursday, Anthony Edwards didn't sugarcoat his comments regarding the Minnesota Timberwolves' offense. Edwards admitted that the team still doesn't know their identity heading into the final stretch of 2024.
"Yeah, we don't have sh*t on offense," Edwards said, according to CBS Sports. "We don't have no identity. I mean, we know I'm going to shoot a bunch of shots, we know Ju (Randle) going to shoot a bunch of shots and that's all we know. We don't really know anything else. I mean, it's not on the coaches at all, it's on us. We're out there playing."
Edwards has played well for the Timberwolves this season, despite some off nights like Thursday and Saturday's games.
