NBA analyst says “This is the biggest disappointment & failure in NBA history" blaming Sean Marks for Brooklyn Nets’ failure

When the Brooklyn Nets brought in both Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the hope was that it was the birth of a dynasty. Years later, one NBA analyst believes it's the biggest disappointment in the history of the league.

The Nets organization has experienced a rollercoaster of highs and lows throughout the last several years. Since signing with the team in 2019, both Irving and Durant showed glimpses of Brooklyn's dangerous potential. That idea was echoed when general manager Sean Marks went out to acquire superstar guard James Harden.

It looked to be one of the most dangerous offensive forces in the history of the NBA. But the dream of contending for a championship quickly unraveled. Harden was eventually traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.

After showing some promise in the 2022-23 season, both Irving and Durant found themselves being traded to different teams.

The Brooklyn Nets now look to be a team stuck in a difficult position. While they've acquired a plethora of draft capital, they owe most of their selections to the Houston Rockets from the James Harden trade.

During an episode of "The Odd Couple" podcast, analysts Rob Parker and Chris Broussard talked about the downfall of the Nets. Broussard went on to say that he believes it could be the "biggest disappointment and failure in NBA history."

"From the Nets side of things, maybe I'm missing something but I don't think so. This is the biggest disappointment and failure in NBA history."
"The Nets, Sean Marks? Bye. When next season starts there should be one man standing in the basketball operations department, Jacque Vaughn. He's (Marks) been there now seven years, do we need more evidence?
"The superstars did not like him, Kevin Durant wanted him fired. Go out and get a general manager that can rebuild this team."

The Brooklyn Nets have experienced a massive overhaul since the NBA's trade deadline. With both Irving and Durant out of the picture, Brooklyn will now look to create an identity with the roster at hand.

The Nets still have a roster that features a plethora of exciting players. Former Phoenix Suns wings Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson will have the opportunity to cement themselves as players to build around.

The pair of wings are under contract for the foreseeable future and have shown they can be strong assets for an organization.

Second-year guard Cam Thomas has started to explode with his play on the court due to an increase in playing time. Thomas was one of the most talented offensive weapons in the 2021 NBA draft class.

Since the Irving trade, Thomas has been turning heads with his play on the court. In his last six games, he is averaging 32.3 points per game while shooting 50.0% from the field.
