NBA enthusiast 'calls out' Eddie A. Johnson to 1v1 game after beefing over 'waterboy' comments

Former NBA player and now basketball analyst Eddie A. Johnson, 65, has found himself in a beef with a die-hard LA Clippers fan and NBA enthusiast and has been challenged to a game of one-on-one.

Clippers fan Jacob The Clipper took to X on Saturday to call out the one-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner over the comment he made, calling him a "waterboy."

The issue stemmed when Eddie A. Johnson reacted to Jacob's post about the flaws in the game of Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese. The Phoenix Suns TV analyst asserted that the Clippers fan was in no real position to criticize, having not played at the highest level. He then dared him to show a video of his shotmaking and was not impressed.

Jacob The Clipper then posted his counter-challenge to Johnson, writing:

"Okay set it up. I am publicly calling you out. Let's play a game of 1 on 1, up to 11 (well keep it short, I know if more you'll be too winded). Any court in LA."

It did not take long for Johnson to respond, expressing his willingness to take on the challenge.

As an NBA player, Eddie A. Johnson was a highly capable scorer with an average of 16 points per game on 47.2% shooting from the field and 33.5% from deep in 19 seasons.

He had stops with the Kansas City Kings, later Sacramento, Phoenix, Seattle, Charlotte, Indiana, and Houston. With the Kings he had his best years, averaging 18.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in six seasons. However, with the Suns, (18.4 ppg) he established himself as an explosive off-the-bench guy.

Johnson now shares his experience as co-host of NBA Today on Sirius XM NBA Radio and in calling the Suns' games for Bally Sports Arizona.

Eddie A. Johnson stands up for Jaylen Brown on Olympic snub

That Eddie A. Johnson stood up for Angel Reese was not surprising, as through the years he has been known to speak his mind about players. Back in July, he did the same for Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown after he was snubbed for the U.S. Olympic Team.

Speaking on 'Sirius XM NBA Radio', Johnson raised a howl over the non-inclusion of Brown in Team USA while three of his Celtics teammates, namely, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White, all made it.

In making his case, the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year winner highlighted that it could be argued that Brown was the best player for the Celtics as they went on to win the NBA title last season, saying:

"He was the best player on his team in the entire playoffs ... He gets Finals MVP, and they pick 3 other players off his team to go to the Olympics ... That's ridiculous."

Brown expressed dismay over his non-inclusion with Team USA, taking a dig at USA Basketball and Nike. The team, however, went on and swept its way to another Olympic gold medal in Paris.
