NBA fans question Wilt Chamberlain's 100-pt game's validity after 90-year-old Olympics video resurfaces: "Still no footage from March 2"

Records are made to be broken, but it seems highly unlikely that anyone will ever match Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point night for the Philadelphia Warriors. The historic scoring performance took place against the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962, and still stands as the NBA's single-game scoring record.

After a clip of the 100-meter freestyle swimming event from the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics surfaced, some NBA fans are questioning the validity of Chamberlin's scoring record. The video on social media shows an Olympic race from 88 years ago, leading to a fan asking why there is no footage of the Hall of Famer's record-setting night.

"Still no footage from March 2, 1962," the fan posted on X.
"So basically, Kobe holds the record for most points in a game with 81, commented another fan.
"I wasn’t a non believer at first of the 100 point game but the more and more I see these old videos I increasingly become more skeptical," stated another fan.
"There’s more evidence of Sasquatch," joked another fan.
"We got video from 1932 but ain’t got Wilt Chamberlain 100 point game no where?" added another fan.
"They to tell us and wilt Had 70 Points by the 3rd Quarter and NOBODY wiped out a Camera to record the rest of the game Im in tears😭😭," a comment read.

The fact that there were fewer cameras in the 1960's probably explains why there is no footage of the remarkable feat.

Wilt Chamberlain is still the only player to break triple digits in a game. The 100-point night took place in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In a high-scoring shootout, the Warriors defeated the Knicks 169-147. Chamberlain logged 100 points on 36-63 shooting and added 25 rebounds and 2 assists.

Chamberlain also recorded 78 points against the Los Angeles Lakers a year earlier in 1961.

Kobe Bryant ranks second on the list for most points in a game with the 81 he recorded versus the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 22, 2006.

There may be no video footage of the 100-point game, but Wilt Chamberlain's teammates and opponents remember it well.

Per ESPN, Philadelphia Warriors guard Al Attles recalled the commanding performance from the big man in an interview.

"He was really dominant. Wilt had a tremendous game. It's been 50 years since that happened. It's the 50th anniversary of that game. It's truly stood the test of time," Attles said in 2012.

Forward Joe Ruklick will go down in history books as the man who made the assist to secure the 100th point.

"After I made the pass to Wilt for his 100th point, I went over to the scorer's table. I told the official scorer to give me the assist. I wanted that," Ruklick said.

Dave Budd, one of the opposing centers, had the frightful task of having to contain Wilt Chamberlain on the night. He said that there was little the Knicks could do to throw him off his game.

"The amazing thing about Wilt that night, a historically 50 percent free throw shooter goes 28-32 from the free throw line. He had it going that night," Budd said.

Wilt Chamberlain's record will go down as one of the greatest in NBA history, and 62 years later, it is still going strong.
