The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to cement a top-four finish with a game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets
The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t been to the NBA postseason since LeBron James took his talents to Hollywood. That four-year playoff drought will likely come to an end as the Cavaliers look to become a top-four team.
The Cavs (45-28) own the fourth seed, three games ahead of the New York Knicks (42-31). Cleveland will likely host their first NBA playoff series since “King James” left them for the second time.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets (39-32) are desperately trying to hold on to the sixth spot and an outright playoff ticket. They are on a three-game losing streak and are just a game ahead of the Miami Heat (39-34) for that enviable spot.
Another loss by the Nets could bring them closer to the grueling play-in tournament.
The struggling Boston Celtics are looking to end a brutal six-game road trip with a win against the Sacramento Kings
The defending NBA Eastern Conference champs have looked out of sorts for nearly a month now. They’re just 7-6 since the All-Star break and have been surpassed by the Milwaukee Bucks for the best record in the league.
Boston (49-23) could also lose the Atlantic Division to the Philadelphia 76ers (48-23). The bad news for the Celtics is the way they have been losing games. In four of their six defeats, they’ve blown at least an 18-point lead.
Their last loss was against the Utah Jazz after taking a 19-point advantage in the first half.
The Celtics will be facing a much stronger team in the Sacramento Kings, who may be the biggest revelation of the NBA season. Sacramento is third in the Western Conference, behind only the Denver Nuggets and the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Kings are 11-3 since the All-Star break. They’re looking to avenge a 122-104 loss to the Boston Celtics last Nov. 5 and tie their season series.
