The Miami Heat will be looking to push for an outright NBA postseason berth against the Toronto Raptors

The Miami Heat (40-35) are virtually tied with the Brooklyn Nets (40-35) for the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference with an outright NBA playoff berth. Brooklyn holds the tiebreaker with a better record (27-21) compared to Miami’s (21-25) in their conference.

The Heat could go half a game ahead of the Nets with a win against the Toronto Raptors.

Toronto, however, will also be looking to improve on their 37-38 record, which puts them in ninth place in the east. The home team is three games behind the Nets and the Heat for that coveted sixth seed.

Both teams are relatively healthy, so it should be an all-out battle in Canada.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors are hoping to avoid the play-in bracket

An all-out war is expected tonight between the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors.
An all-out war is expected tonight between the New Orleans Pelicans and Golden State Warriors.

Tonight’s matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans (38-37) and Golden State Warriors (39-37) will have a crucial impact on their playoff aspirations. New Orleans is in eigth place while Golden State is in seventh in the tightly-contested Western Conference.

A win by the Pelicans will give them a better record than the defending NBA champs as well as a superior tiebreaker. New Orleans is 26-20 while Golden State is 25-21 in the west. A Pelicans victory would be a significant blow to the Warriors in several ways.

The Golden State Warriors will have a clear advantage as the game will be at Chase Center and they’re relatively healthy. The Pelicans will still be without NBA All-Star forward Zion Williamson.

Regardless of the Warriors’ edge on paper, expect the Pelicans to go all-out for a victory.
