NBA insider comically projects Lakers' ceiling, calling them an 'easy to predict' team for 2024-25 season

ESPN's Brian Windhorst did not hold back in his 2024-25 NBA season prediction of the LA Lakers. The league held a survey for general managers on which team is the "toughest to predict" and the Lakers took home the top spot with 17% of the votes. However, Windy has a different prediction for the team.

The Lakers are vying for the Larry O'Brien trophy, the same as they did the previous season, after losing to the Denver Nuggets in five games in the first round. Unfortunately, they failed to add another star to their roster, which is why Windhorst believes the California team is "easy to predict."

"I actually think the Lakers are relatively easy to predict. I think they're probably headed for the play-in," Windhorst said. "Which was where they were last year. They got roughly the same team coming back. We'll see with health. And last year AD and LeBron actually had two extremely healthy seasons. I don't think it's possible for them to play more games than they did last year."

The analyst also took a shot at the Purple & Gold team.

"I was just surprised by this. I don't know, maybe they just felt the Lakers have to be mentioned on something so they put them up there."

His co-host and NBA champion Kendrick Perkins gave a reason why LA is a tough team to predict.

"I'm not surprised," Perk said. "The reason they're the toughest team to predict, and that's why they was voted so high is because Anthony Davis is the toughest player to predict."

Perkins brought up the fact that nobody can predict how Anthony Davis' health will affect the team's performance each night.

Over the summer, the organization failed to bring another star to the roster. Their draft picks, Dalton Knecht and Bronny James, were their largest roster addition.

Lakers star snubbed in multiple categories for the annual GM survey

Davis' name came up numerous times in different categories. However, he wasn't voted as the best in any of the classifications he was mentioned in.

For the voting of the best power forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo took home the top spot with 77% of the votes. AD was ranked lower than Kevin Durant, who had 7% of the votes.

For the best defensive player in the league, Victor Wembanyama had 40% of the votes, finishing first. Davis, on the other hand, was tied with Antetokounmpo and Herb Jones in the fifth spot with 7%.

Lastly, the 2020 champion ranked third in the best interior defender category with 10% of the votes. Once again, Wemby was at the top, as he garnered 40% of the votes.
