NBA insider says Warriors want Brandin Podziemski to take 8-10 3's per game next season

The Golden State Warriors have a new objective for Brandin Podziemski. Per reports, the team wants the 21-year-old to take at least eight-10 three-pointers per game in the upcoming season. The shooting guard made the reveal saying that was the conversation he had with head coach Steve Kerr and GM Mike Dunleavy.

Per The Athletic's Anthony Slater, Podziemski added that he would have to add more downtown attempts to his skillset to bolster the Warriors' offense.

"They want me to take anywhere from eight to 10 per game. That's what they told me. All different types: off dribble handoffs, off ball screens, catch-and-shoot."

So far, according to Slater, Podziemski has made 38.5% of his 3s but has only attempted 3.2 per game. Overall, he has shot 45.4 from the field and a decent clip from beyond the arc. He ended his season with 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.

With Klay Thompson's exit, the onus now shifts to Brandin Podziemski and sharpshooters Buddy Hield and Steph Curry to spearhead the team's scoring. Only time will tell if the guard entering his second year can live up to expectations after a promising rookie year.

"Told me I wouldn't be traded": Brandin Podziemski reveals Warriors GM's message amid Paul George and Lauri Markannen trade buzz

Brandin Podziemski was one of the names doing the rounds when it came to Golden State Warriors' off-season news this summer. However, GM Dunleavy reassured him that he would be in the team no matter the buzz and the speculations. The SG revealed what the latter told him.

"A lot of these other teams are calling about you. They want you, but you're not going anywhere. You're ours. You don't have anything to worry about. You're a priority here.'"

Podziemski also added that the front office was transparent and honest as they kept him in the loop with the Paul George and Lauri Markkanen rumors that had him as one of the potential trade pieces. The former LA Clippers wing eventually moved to the Philadelphia 76ers to play alongside Joel Embiid, while Markkanen inked an extension with the Utah Jazz.

Brandin Podziemski is looked at as a vital part of the team as they prepare for the future. While they are considered midfield leaders this upcoming season, it's interesting to see if a young side led by Curry can spring a surprise in what is an ultra-competitive Western Conference.
