NBA Rumors: Dallas Mavericks will look to re-sign All-Star in free agency

Given how the past few games have gone for the Dallas Mavericks' Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic experiment, the dynamic duo has certainly not lived up to the expectations set by the media for the two All-Stars.

As of now, the Mavericks (37-42) are 11th in the Western Conference standings and have lost three-straight games with only three victories in their last 10 games.

Even with the team's disappointing output thus far, senior NBA insider for TNT and Bleacher Report, Chris Haynes, reported that the Mavericks are still planning on re-signing eight-time All-Star Kyrie Irving in the offseason.

Disappointing season for the Dallas Mavericks

Before the season started, the Dallas Mavericks were fresh off a Western Conference Finals appearance against the Golden State Warriors. Expectations were high as the assumption was that Mark Cuban would add more pieces to build around Luka Doncic to have another shot at making a deep playoff run.

However, the Mavericks were only able to acquire Christian Wood and JaVale Mcgee while also losing Jalen Brunson to the New York Knicks. They weren't able to match the opposing team's massive offer.

Despite a disappointing offseason, the Mavericks were still competing well in the tightly-competitive Western Conference. They were even as high as fourth in the standings. But since Irving's acquisition, they have fallen off tremendously in the standings.

The Mavericks are 7-12 with Kyrie Irving playing. They are 8-16 overall since he joined the team.
