NBA Rumors: Phoenix Suns can target John Wall

After being sent to the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline, John Wall is now one of the biggest names in the buyout market. The five-time All-Star, 32, could still have something to give an NBA team.

As of now, there hasn't been much chatter about a team looking to bring on the former No. 1 pick. That being said, one analyst picked a new finals contender as a possible landing spot.

During a recent episode of "#thisleague UNCUT," NBA insider Chris Haynes brought up the idea of the Phoenix Suns targeting John Wall on the buyout market.

"Phoenix, they’re still looking for another ball-handler, and so if the Derrick Rose situation doesn’t play out, which looks like it most likely won’t, then they have to look at other guys out there," Haynes said.
"And you look at the buyout market, the only other prominent guard that has ball-handling skills and obligations is John Wall, and we’re not hearing much on him as of right now."

Wall spent the beginning of the season with the LA Clippers. In 34 games, he posted averages of 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

Can John Wall help the Phoenix Suns in their quest for a title?

After missing nearly two years because of injury, John Wall has managed to salvage the back end of his career. He might not be the same player he was at his peak, but can still be a contributor on a good team.

The Phoenix Suns look like a team that needs depth. After parting with multiple pieces to bring in Kevin Durant, there are holes to be filled on their roster. As a former All-Star with playoff experience, Wall could aid them as they look to compete for a title.

Chris Paul and Cameron Payne have dealt with injuries this year and adding another guard to the mix isn't the worst move the Suns can make. Signing Wall could be insurance if one of these guards were to go down during the postseason.

Wall isn't a great three-point shooter, but has still been able to create offense for himself and others. Even at this point in his career, he could come in and provide offense while the stars are resting. He might not be able to play with Paul, but him and Payne could share ball-handling duties with the second unit.

The Suns don't have many options when it comes to making upgrades, and Wall is a player who could be worth rolling the dice on.
