Players in contention to win the 2022-23 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award have increased their production as the season progresses. In this list, there are a lot of new faces who have emerged as top candidates to win the award.
A few players have fallen off the list. However, the new guys have taken over and made the competition even more entertaining. On that note, here are the updated rankings for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
#5 Malik Monk

Malik Monk is a new addition to the Sixth Man of the Year race, thanks to his outstanding performances in previous weeks. Now reunited with De'Aaron Fox, Monk is averaging the most points in his young career so far. He helped the Sacramento Kings light their beam twice last week to improve their record.
Gone are the days when Michael Jordan would hit Monk on the head. He's transformed himself into a reliable sparkplug for the Kings.
#4 Bennedict Mathurin

Bennedict Mathurin is the youngest candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award. He also has a shot at winning the Rookie of the Year award this season. Some fans hope that Mathurin will win both awards by the end of the season.
Mathurin has started off incredibly well this season and has sustained high-level production. His confidence has helped him overcome the challenges of battling it out with established stars.

#3 Malcolm Brogdon

From being at the number two spot last month to falling to third place, Malcolm Brogdon's numbers have gone down. Still, that hasn't removed him from the Sixth Man of the Year race. He also missed a game last week, making his ranking fall from the top.
Brogdon still has an opportunity to increase his chances of winning the award, although it looks like he's more focused on winning the NBA title with the Boston Celtics.
#2 Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole was incredible last week. He averaged at least 26 points, but the Golden State Warriors only had one win during the three-game span. Although Poole has been missing a lot from beyond the arc, his confidence isn't shaken.
The Warriors need Poole to get back to the Finals, but he must also start knocking down his three-pointers consistently. Poole is on his way to becoming a legit candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
#1 Christian Wood

Topping off the list is Christian Wood, who remains at the top. In the first edition of the race, Wood was seen as the clear winner for this season's Sixth Man of the Year award. He's sustained a high level of production, which is why he deserves the top spot.
Outside of Luka Doncic, Wood is the only player who's performed well with the Dallas Mavericks. The shooting big man has been consistent as the leader of their second unit.
