NBA Trade Machine: Can Milwaukee Bucks acquire Derrick Rose by selling key assets like Grayson Allen?
The Milwaukee Bucks will have some interesting decisions to make during the 2023 NBA trade deadline as they continue building their already championship roster. Milwaukee won a championship just two seasons ago and one of the major reasons why they did so was because of an added wing at the deadline in PJ Tucker.
Milwaukee has now been linked to multiple names, including Jae Crowder, Bojan Bogdanovic, Cam Reddish, and Derrick Rose. Of the players listed, a new report has come out that suggested that the Bucks might be going after Rose before the Thursday deadline.
Could the Bucks get Derrick Rose?
In order for Milwaukee to acquire Derrick Rose, they would have to get creative. Unfortunately, for the Bucks, they would have to trade the better player in this entire deal as Grayson Allen would have to be a part of this.
This isn't the 2010s anymore as Allen is clearly the better player and Milwaukee already has a backup point guard in Jevon Carter that plays at a higher level than Derrick Rose currently does.
However, since the rumor is out there, there must be some sort of love here for Rose going to Milwaukee. If the Bucks were to do this trade, they could trade Grayson Allen and George Hill for Rose straight up. The Knicks would likely have to add a few picks here.
It doesn't even seem likely that Milwaukee would take it even with the added picks as they have much bigger aspirations than adding a player like Derrick Rose at this point in his career, but we've seen crazier things happen at the NBA trade deadline.
It's tough to say that Rose would be a positive for this Milwaukee team. He hasn't played much at all with the New York Knicks and if he can't buy minutes with that Knicks team, then there's a good chance that the Milwaukee Bucks will never play him.
He was once one of the best players in the NBA, but hasn't had much of a chance to show his talent throughout the past few years. Even when he has had that chance, there's nothing that the Bucks are going to overspend on here.
Their GM Jon Horst has done a great job throughout the past few trade deadlines and adding somebody like Derrick Rose and trading Grayson Allen would be one of his worst moves yet and likely the worst he's ever made.
