"Never gonna happen again": LaVar Ball makes bold claim no pair of brothers will ever be drafted in Top 3 ever
LaVar Ball is a proud father of two NBA players who were Top 3 draft picks. Lonzo Ball was the No. 2 pick of the 2017 draft, while LaMelo was selected third in 2020. The head of the Ball family now claimed that no other pair of brothers would come close to what his sons achieved.
In an interview with "Vlad TV", LaVar was asked about Lonzo and LaMelo being drafted in the Top 3 of their respective class. He is proud of what the two were able to accomplish before declaring that it will never happen again in the history of the NBA:
"It's never gonna happen again," LaVar said. "I'm gonna tell you again, it ain't never gonna happen again. They got to be set up like that. First, you got to have cold brothers. It's never gonna be set up like that, I guarantee it.
"Second and third? And then they demean it a little bit by saying Top 5. Top 3! And don't think if Gelo wasn't drafted if they wouldn't have let him go to UCLA and do this thing, come out as the best No. 2 guard. You don't think he's not gonna be Top 5? Are you crazy?"
Despite what critics and haters say about LaVar Ball, he did produce two sons who were picked in the Top 3 of two NBA drafts. That's a great accomplishment for any father.
Lonzo Ball was selected second overall by the LA Lakers in 2017, but he has had an up-and-down career. He was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the Anthony Davis deal in 2019. He now plays for the Chicago Bulls, but he is set to miss his second straight season due to a lingering knee issue.
On the other hand, LaMelo Ball is headed into superstardom with the Charlotte Hornets. LaMelo is already a former All-Star, who had to endure several ankle injuries last season. However, he remains destined to do great things for the Hornets and live up to his new five-year, $260 million contract.

Is LaVar Ball right about his claim?
LaVar Ball is known for outlandish opinions about his sons, but he might be right about his latest claim. It's hard enough for a player to be a Top 3 pick in the NBA, so it will be harder to for a set of brothers to do it.
However, the talent continues to grow across the world means that it's not impossible. The Thompson twins were drafted in the Top 5 this year, so a pair of brothers will certainly knock on the door in the future.
The Boozer twins have a chance to achieve it in 2026, with Cameron as a potential No. 1 pick and Cayden as a lottery pick. If Cayden can increase his stock, he can definitely be a Top 3 selection.
