Nick Wright outlines major concern for Dallas Mavericks after acquiring Kyrie Irving

Reports of Kyrie Irving getting traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks took the league by storm over the weekend. Analyst Nick Wright recently explained why it's a desperate move by the Mavs.

On First Things First, Wright pointed out that the move to acquire Irving was a short-term one.

"Short term, I think the Mavs can win the title. ... Kyrie could solve the Mavs' biggest issue," Wright said.
"When Luka's not on the court they go from the best offense in the NBA to the worst offense in the NBA. On the court, that would be the best offense in the league. Off the court, that'd be the worst offense in the league. And by the way, he's missed seven games and they are 0-7 in those games."

"In the very short term, it's a desperation move that might work. In the long term, they're getting into the Kyrie Irving business and that literally never works for anybody in the long run."

Since the trade, Dallas now has two starting guards capable of carrying the team's offense. Irving, an eight-time All-Star, could make his debut for Dallas on Wednesday against the LA Clippers.

The experience that Kyrie Irving has amassed over the years in the NBA is extremely valuable to teams. He's experienced winning the title, as well as coming just short. He's also experienced early playoff losses. All of this could help the Mavs in crunch time.

There has been speculation as to what the Mavs' starting lineup will look like with Irving. With Irving and Doncic in the backcourt, Dallas could look to surround the duo with deadly snipers from the perimeter.

As such, if Irving can stay healthy and free of controversies, he could help Doncic lead the Mavericks to a deep playoff run.
