"Nothing’s changed with PG leaving" - Clippers' front office remains unfazed despite Paul George declining $110 million contract
The LA Clippers still look to compete despite losing out on Paul George over the summer. George declined his player option and joined the Philadelphia 76ers on a four-year, $212 million contract. Now, the Clippers have only one star left on the team, Kawhi Leonard, but are still focused on winning.
ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk shared what the team's president of basketball operations, Lawrence Frank, said.
"Nothing’s changed with PG leaving. The goal remains the same … we expect to be highly competitive … we are not all of the sudden with Paul out, let’s run and do something reckless," Frank said.
Frank even called out George for sharing the wrong information on his show, "Podcast P with Paul George." According to the star, the initial offer from the front office was a two-year, $60 million deal. He said in his podcast that the offer made him feel disrespected.
However, Frank cleared things out and said that the two-year, $60 million deal wasn't their initial offer. According to him, it was supposed to be an addition to his $50 million player option.
The team had a disappointing ending to their 2024-25 season. While they reached the postseason, they were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in six games. The franchise was still hopeful to have George for next season as they even negotiated a contract extension with the star.

Clippers reportedly investigated Kevin Porter Jr. before signing him
The Clippers have given Kevin Porter Jr. a new chance to play in the NBA. Porter was released by the Houston Rockets after he was arrested and charged with assault for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend, the WNBA's Kysre Gondrezick. LA reportedly signed him to a two-year deal, according to Sham Charania of The Athletic.
It has been reported that the Western Conference team has done its due diligence before signing Porter to a new deal. Frank shared this detail with Youngmisuk.
"We don’t want to downplay or minimize domestic violence. The allegations are serious," Frank shared.
Porter was with the Rockets for three seasons before he was released. In the three seasons, he averaged 17.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists. Year after year, he gradually improved how he performed.
