“Oh I'm gonna kill you, I'ma try to take your head off” – Magic Johnson affirms Steph Curry has a killer mentality behind his smile, says he shushed all doubters winning Finals MVP

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry has been one of the most exciting players in the NBA, bringing joy to fans. But that's not the only thing that NBA legend Magic Johnson believes Curry brings to the table.

Curry has cemented himself as one of the greatest shooters to ever step on the hardwood. His ability to shoot from well beyond NBA range makes fans lose their breath on a regular basis. Throughout his career, there's always been a cloud of doubt over Curry. If he was such a great player, why couldn't he win a Finals MVP?

It seemed ridiculous, but that was the narrative that continued to follow the Warriors star. Curry silenced the doubters, winning the 2022 NBA Finals MVP award. On a recent episode of the "Club Shay Shay" podcast, the Hall of Fame Lakers point guard praised Curry's ability.

"We've never seen probably a basketball player in better condition and understand angles and how to come off that screen and also be on balance to still shoot," Johnson said. "And he can shoot off balance, too. We've never seen that before. And for him to be that small, but he can shoot from almost half-court. He's not throwing it, he's shooting it."

Magic Johnson praised Curry's mentality. Johnson said that while fans look at Curry's smile, they overlook how Curry is a "killer" on the court.

"We've never seen that before and, then he's a killer," Johnson said. "See, people look at the smile just like they looked at me with my smile. Oh I'm gonna kill you. I'mma try to take your head off."

The comparison that Magic Johnson makes between himself and Steph Curry is a fascinating one. Both were known for their upbeat personalities on and off the court. But when it came time to flip the switch, they both knew what it took to win at the highest level.

Curry is coming off his fourth NBA championship for the Golden State Warriors. Although he's set to turn 35 this season, there's no reason why he cannot add to that chest of trophies. Curry's playing style suggests that he is still in the prime of his career. To make things even more interesting, Golden State has one of the deepest rosters in the entire league.

“Steph is laughing and going through all the drill work, and Kenny (Atkinson) goes, ‘it looks like he’s a sophomore at Davidson.’ That’s how much joy he brings to practice.”

With a plethora of young talent waiting in the wings, the Warriors should be a contender for years to come. Curry continues to play at a high level and will find himself once again in the conversation for MVP. So far, Curry has averaged 33.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

If Golden State can continue to stay healthy, the Warriors will have the chance to defend their title. For a player with Curry's ability, it seems like his legacy as one of the greats continues to build.
