OKC Thunder vs San Antonio Spurs Player Stats and Box Score for Nov. 19 | 2024 Emirates NBA Cup

The San Antonio Spurs welcomed the OKC Thunder at Frost Bank Arena on Tuesday night. It was a group stage game for the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup and the second matchup of the season between the Spurs and Thunder. Both Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren are out for the game due to injuries.

Keldon Johnson led the way for the Spurs with 22 points off the bench, hitting six 3-point shots. Chris Paul had a huge double-double of 14 points and 11 assists as they defeated the Thunder 110-104. Stephon Castle added 10 points, eight assists and a game-saving block with 30 seconds left in the game.

Meanwhile, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 32 points, four rebounds and seven assists for Oklahoma City. Jalen Williams added 27 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals, but it wasn't enough to get the win. The Thunder were cold from beyond the arc, shooting just 30.2% for the game.

OKC Thunder vs San Antonio Spurs Game Summary

In the first quarter, the game was back-and-forth before the OKC Thunder built a 17-11 lead at the seven-minute mark. The San Antonio Spurs battled back to keep the game close led by Harrison Barnes. Oklahoma City entered the second period with a 35-32 advantage.

The Thunder started the second quarter hot and were ready to take control of the game. They were up 48-38 midway through the period before a rampant run led by Keldon Johnson allowed the Spurs to retake the lead at the 1:16 mark and ended halftime with a 60-57 lead.

The San Antonio Spurs took control of the third quarter and built as much as 16 points. The OKC Thunder tried to trim the lead, but they were cold from beyond the arc. The Spurs had a lot of momentum too as they earned a 93-77 advantage heading into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, it appeared as though the Spurs got this one in the bag with the lead ballooning to 21 points. However, the Thunder were not going away without a fight, bringing the deficit down to just six points with under a minute remaining.

The Spurs held on as the Thunder failed to hit several attempts from 3 before the buzzer sounded.

It was San Antonio's first win of the 2024 Emirates Cup and are now 1-1 with two more group games remaining. The Thunder also dropped to 1-1 in the group standings.

The Spurs handed the Thunder their fourth loss of the season. Injuries are catching up with Oklahoma City, and they are having problems with bigger teams. It was also their second straight loss since they were defeated by a large Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
