Patrick Beverley's Indiana fan altercation case gets major update
The confrontation between the Indiana Pacers supporter and former Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley will not result in criminal charges. Back in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, Beverley got into a heated exchange with a fan which resulted in him throwing a basketball at the fan.
Shams Charania and Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic confirmed the update on Beverley's case on August 1. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department investigated the events. Vorkunov reported that the prosecutor's office reviewed the investigation. He also shared that they've shut down the investigation regarding the case.
The incident happened during Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. While the game was nearing its end, Beverley threw a ball at a fan behind the Bucks bench. Pat Bev's throw caused the ball to hit the fan in the head which bounced onto another fan. The second fan tossed the ball back to the NBA player.
However, Beverley wasn't done as he did a hard pass back to the second fan. Luckily, he was quick to catch the ball. Watch the sequence between the backup point guard and the fans involved.
The league declared that Beverley would miss four games as a result of what transpired. The veteran point guard defended himself on social media as he claimed that the punishment from the NBA wasn't fair.
Fans won't get to see the three-time All-Defensive player next season in the league. Beverley has decided to move on to a different league and joined Hapoel Tel Aviv for next season.
