Paul George gets his flowers from Carmelo Anthony for inspiring his son Kiyan's basketball dream

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony showed his appreciation for Paul George on the new episode of 7 PM in Brooklyn. A new clip from the podcast's latest episode was recently posted on X (formerly Twitter). In it, Anthony didn't hold back and gave George flowers for being an inspiration to his son, Kiyan.

Melo and George have had a few battles in the past but that hasn't stopped Kiyan from looking up to the latter. Back in February, the youngster was asked which player he thinks is the GOAT. Without hesitation, he named the now Philadelphia 76ers star.

George has certainly inspired the younger generation since Kiyan isn't the only player to name him as the GOAT. Back in June 2023, Charlotte Hornets player Brandon Miller also named the forward as his GOAT choice.

Now, it was Melo's turn to show his appreciation for the nine-time All-Star.

"I want to give you your flowers, right?" Melo told George. "And also say thank you for inspiring him [Kiyan]. That's big. So, I want to say thank you, champ. For inspiring my son to be happy, say, 'PG in the house', all f**king day, all night. Thank you for that. We made this happen for a reason."

Although they've had their share of on-court battles, Melo and George have shared the court as teammates also. The former New York Knicks star was traded to the OKC Thunder in September 2017 and formed a 'Big 3' with the two-way forward and Russell Westbrook.

Their time together was short-lived as Melo was traded a year later to the Atlanta Hawks.

Paul George made a strong comparison between Russell Westbrook and Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey is one of the best rising stars in the NBA right now after he earned his first All-Star game selection last season. There's a ton of expectation from him after he emerged as a star, and now has enough help since Paul George decided to join the Sixers over the summer.

During George's introductory press conference, he was asked about many things and what his expectations would be with the team. One of the things that he's looking forward to is sharing the court with Maxey. The 6-foot-8 forward has experience playing with a quick and shifty guard in the past.

He played with Westbrook in OKC and also while he was with the LA Clippers. George didn't hesitate to make the comparison between the two guards.

"Tyrese has the youth," George said. "He has the legs, the speed, the quickness. Similar to when I played alongside Russ. Just the opportunities he creates with his speed and his tempo to push the ball."

George talked about him at the 4:05 mark.

The new Big 3 in Philly will likely become one of the best teams in the next four years.
