Paul Pierce shows fierce support for Anthony Davis - “KG mentality rest of the season, if so Lakers easily a playoff team”

Former NBA champion Paul Pierce recently showed a lot of support for LA Lakers superstar Anthony Davis. In light of all the criticism the big man has received, Pierce fiercely defended Davis' case by highlighting his recent performances.

It is an established fact that Anthony Davis is one of the most talented players in the NBA. However, the superstar is not free from criticism.

Davis has faced a lot of criticism over his career. However, this aspect has become rather significant since he joined the LA Lakers. With several doubts being raised about his ability to be available and his mental toughness, AD has seen a lot of negativity thrown his way.

However, the 29-year-old has been proving a lot of people wrong as of late. Given his recent string of dominant outings, Davis finally looked like the superstar he is made out to be.

Coming off a 55-point display against the Washington Wizards, Davis stunned a lot of naysayers. In this regard, former Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce came to AD's defense as well.

Pierce dropped a string of tweets to show support for Anthony Davis following his masterful performance against the Washington Wizards. He started off with:

"This is the Version of Anthony Davis everyone was waiting to see . His ability says he’s capable of it ,but we all questioned his mentality. Yo AD ain’t no going back now blood. KG mentality rest of season , if so Lakers easily a playoff Team also hope u stay healthy."

He later followed this tweet up with a few shorter tweets.

"All I'm hearing is crickets right now nobody got nothing to say about last night."
"Truth sound like hate when everybody hate The Truth."

Pierce's rant reflected his thoughts on the hate Davis had received and the manner in which the superstar responded to it. With Davis playing some of the finest basketball of his career, some have even viewed him as one of the top-five players in the league.

Spoken in the same breath as players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic, Davis finds himself mentioned in elite company. However, this is merely a sign of AD living up to his potential.

With the LA Lakers reaping the benefits from their big man's dominant performances, the team has made a steady climb up the West's ladder. With more challenges to face, the Purple and Gold will hope to get to .500 soon.

Anthony Davis living up to expectations

As a big man with a guard's skillset, Anthony Davis fits the mold for the modern-day big in every way.

To add to his offensive repertoire, AD has been an equally potent force on the defensive side of the ball. As a consistent candidate for the DPOY award, Davis presents a solid case as one of the best players in the league.

Needless to say, with so much to offer, there are a lot of expectations placed upon Davis. While he hasn't necessarily lived up to these in the last few seasons, AD looks like the best version of himself right now.

As one of the most dominant big men in the game, Davis is finally fulfilling his role with the LA Lakers. Whether he is expected to be the focal point of the team's offense or the defensive anchor, AD has found a way to be a force on both sides of the ball.

While there are some doubts about his ability to keep this up, Davis has shown a lot of promise. Given that it has also had a direct impact on the Lakers' winning culture as of late, the team will hope to see their superstar big man remain consistent.
