"People might not want to give me credit"- Klay Thompson not worried about recognition despite leading the league in three-pointers
Despite struggling to find his stroke earlier this season, Klay Thompson recently became the league leader with the most three-pointers made. Thompson doesn't seem surprised about his most recent achievement. He mentioned that becoming the league leader proved that the Golden State Warriors star put in a lot of effort this season.
Klay Thompson then made a subtle flex, saying that he's usually right about things, however, basketball fans won't believe him. Reporters wanted to get the scoop on what he meant by his statements but Thompson decided to keep things vague. It could probably mean that Klay knew he could prove the doubters wrong, which he did by becoming the three-point leader this year. KT said:
"I think it's cool to lead the league in threes made. Just testing my hard work over the last few years. Some dark times that turned into some beautiful moments. I'm usually right about things I say. People might not want to give me credit, but it'll usually come true."
Klay Thompson's Rise from the Ashes
Klay Thompson had a rough start to the season. In October, Thompson averaged a disappointing 12.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. His shooting was off the mark as well, with 28.6% from three and only 34.6% overall.
From that point on, it was clear that the Golden State Warriors star wasn't going to leave things the way they were. Slowly, Klay was able to clean up his act and became slightly better, then came the New Year, and Warriors fans rejoiced as they got the old KT back.
Thompson's best performance came in February. His shooting looked like his old self and it helped lead Golden State to victory while his splash brother Steph Curry was sidelined due to injury. Klay averaged 25.5 ppg, 4.1, rpg and 2.5 apg. He also shot an efficient 45.4% from beyond the arc and 45.3% overall.
Klay Thompson's resurgence is very timely as the Golden State Warriors prepare to face the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the playoffs. The Kings proved to be worthy contenders in the West this season. However, with the old Thompson back and a healthy Steph Curry, Sacramento might find it difficult to get past the first round in their first playoffs since the Chris Webber era.
