"People wanna rank Jordan?" - Stephon Marbury drops LeBron James out of GOAT race vs Michael Jordan post Olympic MVP outburst

Former NBA star Stephon Marbury hasn't been impressed with LeBron James, going by his latest comment about the three-time Olympic gold medalist. After helping Team USA capture another gold, James was criticized by Marbury as he gave his opinion about the GOAT debate.

Marbury has been a fan of Michael Jordan for a long time and doesn't consider James, a four-time NBA champion, as the GOAT. He's been vocal about his opinion regarding the debate and his fascination with Jordan on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In a recent interview with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson, Marbury expressed his thoughts on where he thinks James stands in the GOAT talks. According to the former NBA star, the current LA Lakers star still has to surpass Kobe Bryant for him to be compared to the six-time champion.

"People wanna rank Jordan? Jordan shouldn’t even be ranked," Marbury said. "It should be Kobe, then LeBron and then you can pick guys after that. There’s just no comparison man. It’s not the same. It’s just different worlds. Different mentalities. I don’t know why Jordan’s name is mentioned in the same conversation sometimes."

Not everyone was happy with what he said, but Marbury holds MJ to a higher standard compared to other NBA stars. He's also standing his ground with his thoughts on the matter he discussed with his recent tweet.

"Have at it, Twitter! The matrix is designed for you to live in this program. Mind you, all that’s happening is talk and type. This has no bearing on anyone. If my opinion offends you, my energy will irk you forever. I’m okay with humans thinking what they think about me.❤️is❤️😂," Marbury tweeted.

Marbury doesn't think LeBron James should've won the Olympic MVP award

The 2024 Paris Olympics came to a wrap with Team USA winning the gold medal on Sunday. In the process, LeBron James was named the Olympic MVP for what he did in leading the national team to the top. However, not everyone was impressed with what he did on the court.

Marbury was one of the players who thought that he didn't deserve the MVP nod.

"I get LeBron is the King to many, but let me say this: When you give him what he doesn’t deserve, you basically say that because of what he’s done, he should receive such a high honor on the biggest stage," Marbury said. "No, he didn’t earn it this time."

This comment came after he was snubbed by James following USA's gold medal win against France. Other Team USA players greeted the former great player, but the four-time MVP ignored him.
