Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets edged the Phoenix Suns 149-141 in a humdinger overtime clash at the Ball Arena on Friday. This was the first game of a four-game road trip for the Suns with the focus on seeding as teams vie for the best possible finish.
It was familiar woes in the first half for the visitors as their erratic play on both ends of the floor saw the Nuggets carve out a 68-56 lead at halftime. However, the Suns regrouped in the second half and made a furious comeback. A Christian Braun dagger in the final seconds of the fourth quarter, followed by a brilliant clutch response from Durant saw the Phoenix Suns contest go to overtime.
While the Nuggets are better placed with a 40-22 record, Kevin Durant and the Suns have struggled this season and have yet to break into the top 10 in the West. The loss sees them slip to 29-34 and stay 11th.

Nikola Jokic's NBA2K-level numbers pip the Suns
Nikola Jokic cemented his case for his fourth MVP title as he dished out a 30-point triple-double laced with 21 rebounds and 22 assists in over 40 minutes of play. The center pummeled Phoenix in OT with solid assistance from Aaron Gordon (27 pts), Christian Braun (25), and Aaron Gordon (27). Russell Westbrook came off the bench to pour 14 points as the Nuggets staved off the Suns' comeback.
For Phoenix, Durant and Booker propped up 34 and 29 points respectively, but it was not enough for the Suns to get past Denver. They play the Dallas Mavericks next while the Nuggets play the top-seeded OKC Thunder at the Paycom Center.
