Phoenix Suns vs LA Lakers player stats and box score (Oct. 25) | 2024-25 NBA season

The LA Lakers survived a first-quarter burst from the Phoenix Suns and rallied from a 22-point deficit to win 123-116 on Friday. Anthony Davis, Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves carried the hosts in the first half before LeBron James joined the party. LA's defense stepped up to slow down the Suns before the offense took over.

The Suns opened the game with eight triples and 14 dimes, but couldn't sustain their fiery start. Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal and Devin Booker combined for 67 points, 19 assists and eight rebounds. The starters had an impressive night but coach Mike Budenholzer hardly got anything from the bench.

Phoenix Suns vs LA Lakers: Game Summary

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker got off to a fast start, combining for 17 points in the first quarter to lead the Suns. Phoenix hit eight 3-pointers and dished out 14 assists in the opening period to take a 38-23 advantage.

LA's defense stepped up in the second quarter, limiting Phoenix to 23 points after giving up 38 in the first. Anthony Davis, Rui Hachimura and Austin Reaves sparked the Lakers' surge in the period. LeBron James struggled with four points on 2-for-6 shooting, including 0-for-2 from deep.

After trailing by 22 points early, the Lakers went into the halftime break down 61-52.

LeBron James led the turnaround in the third quarter with 11 points and three assists. Anthony Davis sustained his impressive first half with 11 more points and two assists to help James carry the load for the Lakers. LA outscored Phoenix 35-24 in the third period to turn a nine-point halftime deficit into an 87-85 lead before the fourth quarter.

The Phoenix Suns played better in the final frame but the Lakers wouldn’t be denied. Austin Reaves joined James and Davis in carrying the home team. “AR” had seven points, three assists and several savvy plays that helped hold off the charging Suns.

After going down by 22 points in the first half, the LA Lakers rallied to earn a 123-116 victory.
