Anthony Davis threw the first pitch for the Dodgers in 2019

When Davis first arrived in the City of Angels in 2019, he was called to throw the first pitch for the Dodgers. The Lakers forward went to the locker room to greet the players before he threw the ceremonial first pitch. Watch the video below to see AD throw the baseball.

Davis also interacted with some of the Dodgers players, including a fun moment with one of the team's outfielders, Cody Bellinger. The Lakers star was going to dap the baseball player but got ignored. Eventually, Bellinger realized that he left the basketball star hanging and eventually dapped the player.

LeBron James believes Anthony Davis is the main focal point of the Lakers' system

The Lakers had a promising start to the 2024-25 NBA season. Even without adding significant stars or players over the summer, they managed to get a win against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Wolves are a young team that has incredible potential as they reached the 2024 Western Conference finals.

The only change they made was in the coaching department, after hiring JJ Redick as their new head coach. Before the season even began, Redick was already high on making Anthony Davis the focal point of the Lakers' system. In their season opener on Tuesday, the team finally got to show what it would look like having Davis run the show.

It ended in a 110-103 win for the Lakers, with the All-Star big man leading the way. The former Kentucky star finished the night with 36 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks.

Following their win, LeBron James spoke highly of his star teammate. James talked about having Davis as the focal point of their game plan helped them get the early win in the season.

He is the main focal point for us offensively and defensively,” Davis said. “We got to make sure we continue to give them the ball. I think the coach of staff and JJ [Redick], they do a great job of always putting in the positions and being the recipient of the offense. And you know, AD has it going.
"It’s our job as the ball handlers to continue to feed him, find him. And what AD did, what AD does tonight. I mean, 36, 16, three blocks, four assists, steal and only one turnover with all the usage that he had tonight."

As long as he's healthy, the Lakers will continue to make Davis the center of their system.
