PHOTO: LeBron James drops throwback snap of his high school ‘Fab 5’ in oversized jerseys

LeBron James' high school basketball team occupies a special place in the star's life. LBJ made St. Vincent-St. Mary High School a household name in the early 2000s as they became the No. 1-ranked team in the country and won three state championships.

But he wasn't alone as his teammates, including the rest of the "Fab Five," were with him throughout the entire ride. On Friday, James posted a throwback photo of his high school team while they were all wearing oversized jerseys on his Instagram story.

James, along with Dru Joyce III, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee, and Romeo Travis, were known as the "Fab Five," an homage to the great Michigan team of the '90s.

When he was in high school, James won Ohio Mr. Basketball three times, National High School Player of the Year twice, First-team Parade All-American twice and the McDonald's All-American Game MVP.

LeBron James' SI cover high school jersey will be up for auction

After 21 years, a special jersey that LeBron James wore in high school will be up for auction, per CBS Sports. The jersey wasn't worn in the game but was featured on the iconic Sports Illustrated "Chosen One" cover.

It had been sold previously in 2019 for $187,500. Following that, the value shot up to $512,200 when it was sold again in 2021. The jersey was first featured in 2002 and will be auctioned off in September 2024. There is no exact amount of how much the jersey will be priced at but it could range from $1 million to $2 million, The Athletic projects.

Michael LeBrecht, the photographer for the shoot, shared the moment he had with James during the photoshoot two decades later.

"You come back to something you photographed, usually you say 'what's up, how you doing? It's been a minute.' This doesn't talk back. But it's so iconic," LeBrecht said to Julien's Auctions. "The last time I saw this jersey was probably the time that I shot it in the locker room at St. Vincent-St. Mary.
"This was the first time I shot LeBron. Just kind of a simple set up. I had him dunk the ball at least 40 times. Got him praying to make the NBA, and then I just felt like, 'OK, let's get a little bit more animated.' He's posing, I'm like 'just reach out like this,' and then I'm like, 'give me a woo!' And he's like, 'woo!'"

Whoever gets to bid the highest will have a special sports memorabilia with James' high school jersey.
